| Getting On-Line For the First
Time:
You have selected Windows
XP for your system type. Windows XP Setup Windows XP is very simple to configure for use with E-List. Please note that if your PC has never been on the Internet before you may need your Windows XP CD Rom at some point during this installation.
Getting
Started
Please click on the
Now click on Network and Internet Connections
Now select NETWORK CONNECTIONS
And then click on CREATE NEW CONNECTION
You have now started the New Connection Wizard to create your new dialup connection
Click NEXT
Select CONNECT TO THE INTERNET, and click NEXT
Select SETUP MY CONNECTION MANUALLY, and click NEXT Select CONNECT USING a DIALUP MODEM, and click NEXT
Name this connection something you will remember such as CONNECTION TO E-List, and click NEXT
Now enter the telephone
number of the closest E-List location to
dial into.
You are Now ready to dialup to E-List.Net, open any internet application such as your browser and the modem should dial automatically. If it does not, or you want to test the connection without opening any applications, simply double click on the shortcut added to your desktop. If you are having trouble with your Windows XP dialup connection to E-List.Net, please make sure that your DNS servers are set to 'Automatically assigned' OR check the use the following DNS servers box, and manually enter 216.243.0.4 and 216.243.0.2. Some systems that are a normally part of a LAN, may require hard settings, and/or may have their DNS settings overwritten by LAN setup - so please check these settings first in the event of a problem.
To get to these settings, right click on your dialup connection shortcut, and select Properties. The DNS settings are under the GENERAL tab. Other settings to check: Under the Networking Tab - Type of dialup server you are calling - PPP Win 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet and make sure that Internet Protocol TCP/IP is checked. Windows XP
