| Getting On-Line For the First
Time:
You have selected Windows
ME for your system type. Windows ME Setup Windows ME is very simple to configure for use with E-List. Please note that if your PC has never been on the Internet before you may need your Windows ME CD Rom at some point during this installation.
If your PC has never
been on the Internet before, then please click on the
'Connect to the Internet' Icon on your desktop (if You have deleted this
Icon, you can get to the same place by selecting Start / Programs /
Accessories / Communications / Internet Setup Wizard) You now have a screen that says Welcome to the Internet Connection Wizard. Please select the bottom option 'I want to Setup My Internet Connection Manually', then 'Next'
Select 'I Connect Through a Phone Line and Modem' then 'Next'
Now enter the telephone number of the closest E-List location to dial into (here is a List.)
Now Click 'Advanced Settings' Connection type should be 'PPP', if not, please make it so. Now Click on 'Addresses' and make sure 'Internet Service Provider Provides One' and 'My ISP automatically provides a Domain Name Server (DNS) address' are checked. Do not fill in the boxes provided for Primary and Alternate DNS Server.
Now click 'Next' and enter your username@E-List.Net and your password, making sure to observe the correct CaSe, and NOT to put any spaces in either of the fields, and click 'Next' ![]() Now, Name the connection whatever you like (ex: E-List Internet) and click 'Next' ![]() Click 'Yes' when asked if you would like to setup mail, and then click 'Next'. ![]() Select 'Create a new Internet mail account' then click 'Next'. ![]() Now enter your name in the space provided as you would like it to appear in outgoing e-mail, then click 'next' ![]() In the window which
appears enter your primary email address at E-List.Net - this will be
whatever your username is followed by @E-List.Net
![]() Now make sure the information appears as above. My incoming mail server is a 'POP3' server. The incoming mail server should be entered as 'pop.E-List.Net'. The outgoing mail server should be entered as 'smtp.E-List.Net'. Finally, click 'Next'. ![]() In this window, enter your E-List Username (this time without the @E-List.Net). In the space below your username, enter your password - remember to use the EXACT case and spelling. If you wish for windows to save your password so you do not need to enter it every time you log in, check the 'Remember password' box. Click 'Next'. ![]() Click 'Finish'. You are now ready to connect to the Internet. Opening any Internet aplication such as Internet Explorer, or Netscape Navigator will cause the modem to dial and the connection to be established. Or if you wish to connect to test, open 'My Computer', 'Dialup Networking' and look for the connection name you just made. Windows ME
