Getting On-Line For the First Time:

Setting up your Macintosh using the most common transport and browser Apple OpenTransport and Netscape Communicator. To get online with E-List, please follow the steps below in order, and ALWAYS remember to reboot your Macintosh after making ANY changes to the PPP or TCPIP control Panels.

1. The Modem Control Panel

Getting On-Line For the First Time: Configuring The Macintosh Modem Control Panel: Select your modem type from the Modem list. If your modem is listed, move on to configure the PPP Control Panel. If your modem is not listed, review these installation instructions carefully. If you cannot find your modem, Yahoo can help you find your modem manufacturer's website for new drivers. After finding a modem init string for your modem, create a script using Apple's Modem Script Generator. The program itself can be downloaded and run by selecting it from the Modem Control panel

2. The PPP Control Panel

Getting On-Line For the First Time: Configuring The Macintosh PPP Control Panel: Enter your user name and password exactly as they are shown in your setup information. Enter your local POP phone number, or check our coverage page for our local numbers.

3. The TCP/IP Control Panel

Getting On-Line For the First Time: Configuring The TCP/IP Control Panel: Enter E-List.Net where indicated in the graphic, and enter the nameservers from your setup information sheet. Finally, configure Netscape Communicator for Mail and News.

4. Netscape Communicator Settings

Getting On-Line For the First Time: Configuring Netscape: Netscape Communicator Mail Settings: Fill in the fields as shown below using the setup information from your setup information sheet. Fill in the rest of the Mail Settings Here. That's it. Your Mac is now configured to get on the 'Net using E-List.Net.
