Sending, Receiving, and Downloading Files

Email Attachments

An email attachment is a file that you send to the recipient along with an email message. That is, when you send the email message, the attached file goes along with it, like a photo paper-clipped to a letter. When the email gets to its destination, the recipient's email program will show that there's a file attached to the email message, and will allow her or him to open or save that file.

You can both send and receive files as email attachments. But you can't get a file using email—to receive a file as an email attachment, someone must send it to you.
