HyperText Markup Language

Another way to create Web pages is to simply learn the underlying language of the web: HyperText Markup Language, or HTML.

 
 

If you learn HTML, you can create Web pages using little more than the text-editing program that came with your computer, such as Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit or SimpleText (Mac OS). That's because Web pages are simply plain-text documents with HTML "tags" that tell Web browsers how to display the page.HTML is not difficult. You can learn enough to create basic Web pages within a couple of hours. After you build a few HTML documents, you'll publish them to the Web by using a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program to transfer them to your web space. See the download section and File Transfer Tutorial for details.
