Getting the Most out of Your Web Browsing Experience

How the Web Works

So just what is the Web anyway? It's the worldwide collection of Web pages and other files that are stored on Web servers (special computers) and displayed in Web browsers.

Viewing a Web page is actually a four-step process:

  1. You type in a Web address, or click a link.

  2. Your Web browser sends a request to the appropriate Web server for that page.

  3. The Web server sends the page back to your browser.

  4. Your browser displays the page.

Let's take a closer look at what this means and how all these parts work together.
