Web Browsing Tutorial

The Low-Down on Downloading

All over the Web you'll find pages that allow you to download software such as screen savers, games, etc., by clicking a link. However, not everything you find on the Web is safe to use. Some files may contain computer viruses that can harm your computer.

To protect your computer, it is a good idea to invest in a virus-protection software utility, like Norton Antivirus or McAfee VirusScan. For more information about these products, visit www.nortonav.com or www.mcafee.com .

In general, you should only use computer software you download from Web sites you are familiar with and trust. You may also want to always download files to the same location on your hard disk. Then, point your virus-protection program to that particular folder and have all your downloads inspected quickly and efficiently.
